....or "Why I Love September in OC," or "This Blog Post is Making Me Hungry."
In addition to the Orange International Street Fair mentioned below, which is rife with so many delicious vittles and beverages from all across the world in one place that it takes a full day for the body to recover from its delicious shock, we also have the Taste of Newport and Orange County Restaurant Week all in the month of September!
It seems almost cruel that The Taste of Newport, which runs from September 18th-20th would overlap slightly with Orange County Restaurant Week, running September 13th-19th, but lucky for you, both are relatively affordable.

Taste of Newport is offering a $3 discount off of the Daily General Admission tickets of $25 if you buy online here, but keep in mind that General admission tickets are valid for entry on Friday, Saturday or Sunday only. Also this year, there are a limited number of VIP tickets available for $125 each, which you can purchase to see acts like Sugar Ray, Train, or David Cook up close and personal. The roll call of participants for this year's event look as impressive as their menus, and include restaurants such as: Agora Churrascaria, Back Bay Bistro, The Beachcomber Cafe, California Pizza Kitchen, Chronic Tacos, Dippin Dots Ice Cream, Five Crowns, McCormick & Schmick's, and the list goes on. Check here for the full rundown of the participants.

Orange County Restaurant Week is one of my favorite events in OC. With over 100 restaurants across Orange County offering Three-Course Prix-Fixe menus and Three-Item Specialty Menus from $10-$20 for lunch and $20-$40 for dinner, even this broke blogger can afford to eat out! From experience, I can recommend making reservations for any participating restaurants you can through www.OpenTable.com so that you are all but guaranteed a spot. Some of the more popular restaurants can fill up really quickly. For more information, and for a complete list of restaurants to devour, check here. A couple personal favorites from the last restaurant week were Five Crowns, and Pizzeria Ortica, while The Crow Bar was a bit of a disappointment.
Also in September? My birthday. I'll be celebrating the extra 25 pounds I've gained this month with a piece of cake.
Happy Birthday!
ReplyDeleteI also have a soft spot in my heart for Restaurant Week. There are so many 5 star restaurants in Orange County that usually participate it's a great way to feel fancy, like McDonald's ketchup, and dine 'out of your league' for a night without breaking the bank.
